Summer Appeal 2026
“Come away by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while.” (Mark 6:31)
Dear Friends,
Summer has a way of slowing us down, inviting us to notice the beauty around us—the warmth of the sun, the shade of a tree, the song of birds, and the quiet moments that restore our hearts. Here at Christ the King Retreat Center, I see these moments happen every day.
Not long ago, a retreatant quietly shared with me, “Father, I came here carrying burdens I could no longer hold. I sat by the water fountain for a while listening to the water slowly dripping down, then walked the grounds, prayed in silence, and somehow, I felt lighter. I felt that God had not forgotten me.” Those words stayed with me because they remind me why this sacred place matters.
People often tell us how much they appreciate these peaceful grounds—the flowers blooming, the quiet pathways, the gardens lovingly cared for, and the beauty that surrounds them. What many do not see are the countless hours and ongoing work required to maintain these sacred spaces that bring such comfort and healing to others.
The retreat center continues to be a place where people come searching for peace, hope, direction, and God’s gentle presence during difficult moments in their lives.
As summer unfolds, I invite you to help us continue this ministry of welcome and healing through your generous support. Your gift helps care not only for buildings and grounds, but for the hearts and souls of all who come here seeking rest in God on these sacred grounds.
Thank you for walking with us and for being part of this mission at Christ the King.
With gratitude and prayers in Christ,

Fr. Joe Moons, C.P. Retreat Center Director
