Summer 2023
“He has made everything beautiful in its time…” Ecclesiastes 3:11
Dear Friends,
As we enter another season of warm summer days and nights, we are grateful for your continued support and generous gifts throughout the year. Not far from the retreat center is a large patch of exquisite poppy blossoms, the most beautiful yellow-orange flowers simply dancing in the sunshine in a nearby residential area. From a distance it appears as a golden tapestry, and up close one is reminded of little tongues of fire, something the Acts of the Apostles might describe as the presence of the Holy Spirit! How appropriate that the Feast of Pentecost ushers in the season of summer, a time when we can revel in the glory of God’s creation fully. And how pleasant — even exciting — to watch little children and adults alike as they walk by this little field, pause, and marvel at God’s grandeur!
It was the Russian novelist, Fyodor Dostoyevsky who wrote, “Beauty will save the world.” Today, in the midst of the scourge of violence, climate change, and political turmoil, Christ the King Passionist Retreat Center offers a place of beautiful respite, where folks can reprogram their minds and hearts according to God’s dream. Here, one finds nourishing food for the body and soul, comfortable rooms, provocative and inspiring messages of God’s love, colorful and well maintained grounds filled with the gifts of nature, God has created for all of us to enjoy.
We are most fortunate to have a cohort of professional, zealous and generous volunteers who maintain our beautiful grounds, all of whom share their talents and love of the center — James, Giselle, Patrick, and Joe. Truly they are an integral part of our ministry, building the Kingdom of God.
We thank them, and we thank you, for your most gracious gifts that empower us to provide this place of comfort and healing, education and formation in our rich Catholic Christian heritage. Truly you are sharing the faith!
Your generosity helps us continue our many spiritual services to God’s people. Please prayerfully consider making a gift in support of our 2023 Summer Appeal.
God bless you!
With much gratitude,
Fr. Jack Conley, CP Natalie Svistoonoff, MPH
Director of Ministry Executive Director
