Christmas Appeal 2026!

“There was Room for Him at Christ the King”
Dear Friends,
A young man arrived at Christ the King for a retreat carrying more worries than he cared to admit. He wasn’t sure why he had come or what he hoped to find. But during those quiet days, something changed. He discovered that he didn’t have to face everything alone. There was room for him, room for his struggles, and room for God to speak to his heart.
I often think about how many people come to Christ the King looking for just that—a little peace, someone to listen, and an opportunity to experience God’s love in their lives.
“She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.” (Luke 2:7) On that first Christmas night, Mary and Joseph found no room in the inn. Yet, in the simplicity of a stable, God’s greatest gift of love entered our world. What a beautiful reminder that God comes to us in the most unexpected places, often when we need Him most. Here at Christ the King, we want everyone who comes through our doors to know there is room for them.
Thank you for your generosity which helps our ministry of welcome continue to grow. We now host 18 Catholic high school retreats, including the wonderful Kairos experience for seniors, along with many other Catholic day and weekend retreats and programs serving the Dioceses of Sacramento, Reno, and Stockton.
We are also caring for this sacred place. Our laundry renovation is nearly complete, construction of a new gazebo is underway, our solar panels are operating, and kitchen improvements are being planned.
As we approach Christmas, I hope you will consider making a special gift to help us continue this ministry of welcome, peace, and spiritual renewal. Every gift, whatever its size, helps make a difference in someone’s life. I’ve also enclosed information about other ways to support Christ the King, some of which may offer tax benefits as you consider your year-end plans.
Most of all, I want you to know how grateful I am for you. Your prayers, friendship, and generosity help make Christ the King a place where lives are touched and hearts are renewed and welcomed. May the Christ Child bless you and your loved ones with His peace, hope, and love this Christmas.
