For those hoping to grow in their relationship with our Loving God, Ash Wednesday offers a variety of themes to ponder.  One theme is the annual preparation for our Lenten journey. Another theme is repentance, as we identify the ways we have turned from God. Fasting could be a focus, reminding ourselves that we can choose to reject those things that hurt and harm. Of course, Ash Wednesday also reminds us of our mortality, that our journey will end with death, and that we are ashes that return to the earth from which we were formed.

This year we will focus on reconciliation, our desire to cooperate with God’s grace to heal divisions.
