Peering through the current lens of anxiety caused by the highly contagious coronavirus, or the chaos triggered by an act of racism in Minneapolis — opening a deep national wound and the struggle to heal it, this retreat offers a kind of “spirituality for tough times” in the shadow of Pope Francis’ invitation to ponder God’s tremendous mercy. We begin by acknowledging the division in our various cultures today — politics, religion, relationship — and what does the Gospel say about God’s dream of COMMUNION, FAMILY, UNITY. Under the umbrella of the “grace of matrimony,” and using the metaphor of the Wizard of Oz, we will look at the sadness of division and polarization, and how did we get here? And what will bring us beyond?
